Recess

A sensory break is a great way to get your little ones to focus on the tasks of the day by taking a short recess from their seated learning activities, and letting them channel their energy into something more fun to get their senses going!

When my boy starts getting fidgety or more rowdy than normal, these breaks have been really helpful. After the breaks he usually comes back to his planned activities with more focus and is able to concentrate for longer. There are no strict rules for how and when you do these sensory breaks, it depends on your child, but I’ve found several short breaks through the day really help keeping my munchkin alert and learning. Let them have 15 minutes to explore, run around, jump, solve puzzles, swing, read a book or listen to music, and then get them back into the planned activities!
